Read his story and view the 43k photo. Some visitor comments: Damn good hamburgers. After visiting and seeing capitalism at its best regarding UFOs and Aliens, I am more than convinced that UFOs are a bunch of bunk. However, it's a great place to visit if you want something completely different. What about the pool tables? On the lonely desert road from Las Vegas to Area 51, the Little A'le'inn motel and restaurant is like an oasis in the desert for UFO enthusiasts. Visitors can find kindred spirits in people who are interested in UFOs and aliens. Located in Rachel, Nevada, the Little A'le'inn is around 10 miles away from the access road to Area 51. We interviewed the owner, Pat Travis, by phone to learn more about the Little A'le'inn and what goes on at Area 51. How long has the Little A'le'inn been open? 1988, we Just started year number 9 this month. Was the theme always aliens? No, when we first took it over it was the Rachel Bar & Grill. Then in 1990, we changed the name to the Little A'le'inn. Has tourism increased since the designation of NV 375 as the Extraterrestrial Highway? Definitely. How much has tourism increased or is it difficult to measure? Well, it is really difficult to say but I say at least 30%. Maybe it is even more than that. I would have to talk to my book-keeper to know. That is her job not mine. (laughs) It seems like Area 51 is all over the news now. Oh yes, definitely, especially today with the ID4 movie going everywhere. We have several different kinds of groups, just all kinds. I have a university group coming. I have a group coming from Japan. I have several people from Germany. I have reporters here from New York right now. Do you get many foreign visitors to the Little A'le'inn? Yes, definitely. A whole lot. We have write-ups in papers and magazines from all over the world. I have an article on my desk right now from Germany, a two page article from a German magazine. Are most of the foreign visitors from Europe or are there many from Asia? It is a mix. I've had people from almost every country. Have any celebrities visited Rachel and Area 51? Well, I think that all of them that have been here are celebrities. But Graham Greene, Montel Williams, Bob Lazar, George Knapp. You know there are numerous people who I can't tell you who they even are. I forget. (laughs) Those are some of the people I have pictures on the wall right now There have been a couple of actors and I can't even tell you who, but they were pretty big actors. I don't know actors and it is really bad because they think that I should know (them) and I don't. (laughs) Do most of the visitors you talk to believe that there are alien spacecraft or aliens are at Area 51? I think it is about a 50/50 mix. What do visitors and locals see around Area 51? Do they see lights in the sky or flying craft? Do they hear strange noises? Yes, there have been both seen. Ships and lights. How do people generally describe the ships? Oh, there have been several different configurations from the cigar shaped to the typical, what we call a spaceship, the saucer type. I'm definitely a skeptic when it comes to UFOs but I would love to see one. (laughs) (laughs) Well, it just takes time. You can't expect it overnight. Has Rachel changed at all since Area 51 has become so well known? No, I don't really think so. I think that we are the same little community we were 10 years ago. There is as much inside fighting as there ever was. (laughs) Have you or your co-workers seen anything strange around Area 51 or Rachel? Yes, lights and a craft. Can you describe the craft? Well I can't. One of the ladies that works for me saw one. But people have definitely seen strange flying craft or ships that seem out of this world? Yes, without a doubt. Do you believe that alien spacecraft are at Area 51 or that aliens have visited Area 51? Yes, I believe that there are also alien beings there. Do you believe that the government is performing tests on aliens at Area 51? I believe it is a 50/50 proposition. They are testing and we are testing. So, we are collaborating with the aliens? That's right. Do you have any idea why aliens are visiting Earth? No, I don't know the whys any more than I know why we are here. If the government knows of aliens, why is it trying to keep it a secret from us? Why did they keep Roswell a secret? They want to. And we don't really know why. I don't think the majority of the people anymore would be afraid of them. If aliens do exist, I don't think people would be afraid of them either. People have argued that the government keeps aliens a secret because they are afraid of the public panicking. I don't think that that is true anymore. We are too indoctrinated with them. Thank you very much for speaking with us. We wish you the best of luck with the Little A'le'inn. |
