Cryptozoology - the study of newly discovered, rediscovered, and still unknown species of animals.

While much study concerns new species of bugs and invertebrates, we're interested in the monsters of legend and bad science fiction movies.

Below are some of our favorites and links to their WWW haunts.

The Abominable Snowman
Yak herders in Bhutan and Tibet still believe in the Abominable Snowman, a mysterious ape-like creature that lives above snowline at 15,000 feet. Snowmen are even pictured in old Tibetan and Bhutanese murals and were once supposedly quite common.

Other cultures also have legends of snowmen, most noticeably North America's Bigfoot.

Shadowlands Bigfoot - News, sightings and photos of the beast and his footprints.

The Legend of the Yeti - Yeti legends, photos and stories.

Sea Monsters
With much of the world's oceans still unexplored, is it any wonder that people still report unknown creatures and mysterious fish? Some long thought to be extinct animals have even been recently found such as the Giant Squid and the Coelacanth.

The Loch Ness Monster is the most well known but there are other creatures rumored to exist in the world's oceans and deep lakes.

Sea Serpents & Lake Monsters - Excellent resource for news and photos on many mysterious sea creatures.

The Great Sea Serpent - A letter to the editor of the Illustrated London News in 1848.

La Chupacabra
La Chupacabra, aka the Goatsucker and the Puerto Rican Bigfoot. This legendary creature has been a part of Latin American legend for centuries and is now breaking into the mainstream. La Chupacabra has been featured on the X-Files and was the squadron name of the first operational wing of Stealth Fighters.

The Chupacabra Home Page - While it hasn't been updated in a while, this site is still one of the prime sources for Chupa articles, drawings and discussion.

Chupalooza! - Everything Chupacabra. Stories, pictures and more.

El Chupacabra Online - Sightings, pictures, sounds and movies.

Modern Dinosaurs
Deep within the still unexplored regions of the Earth, there are a surprising number of dinosaur sightings. Mokele-Mbembe, a brontosaurus that stalks Congo's remote Lake Tele, is the most well known but there are also reports of pterodactyls and other prehistoric survivors.
